About Course

Contrary to what some people believe, learning to read is not a ‘natural’ process that happens all on its own. It’s a complex one that requires the proper teaching of various skills and strategies, such as phonics (knowing the relationship between letters and sounds) and phonemic awareness.

It is the joy and love of sharing a good book on a nightly basis that sets the foundation for their reading success, and ensures that reading is given the priority it deserves. Reading regularly with someone who cares is the inspiration that all readers deserve.

What Will You Learn?

  • You make a difference to your children’s reading journey. Your role as an advocate for your children’s reading success cannot be overestimated. It has a direct impact on the ease and confidence with which they pursue their reading and writing.
  • help your child take their first steps in reading and spelling;
  • understand how to help your child build, write and read simple cvc (consonant, vowel, consonant) words;
  • understand how to correct your child when they make a mistake in their reading or writing simple words;
  • have a basic understanding of how phonics works.
